NAME: Alan 'Spidey' Hogan
AGE: 28
BACKGROUND: Born and raised in Vancouver, Canadian+Caribbean descent
OCCUPATION: Entrepreneur - Network Marketing
Dimemond Mentality approached Alan with the utmost confidence that he represents the Dimemond way of thinking and executing. As a close friend of the brand, Alan Hogan is an individual who truly believes in his goals, and aspirations, and then literally checks them off. And that attitude and professionalism, is harder to come by in this modern world full of the money and greed mentality. We've all been in those situations where we've had conversations with family, friends, mentors or just individuals in general, where you interact in a meaningful discussion, and share ideas, goals. expectations. But how often do you ever revisit those conversations, and converse about actually completing those ideas, goals and expectations?
Alan is a core team member of the infamous Dynasty Boys crew, full of quality DJ's, hosts and an all around a great brotherhood of determination of creating a feel good vibe in any given environment. Alan believes in his team, within the nightlife, and has become a co-leader of expanding the crew in the Vancouver nightlife in many ways. Alan is very determined to help approach change in the typical Vancity nightlife, by incorporating more culture, more interactivity, and creating more positive experiences within venues.
One venture that has taken off, which has continued to exceed expectations in Vancouver, is the Emotions movement. Alan and his co-team members, Jason 'Floetic' Joseph and Keisha McGinn, have created an Open Mic Experience, where individuals can either come and watch various acts from talented individuals perform an art form of their choice, or individuals can take part of finally sharing their art form to an audience. This is just one of the many changes to come from not only Alan Hogan, but from the team he not only follows and takes core roles within, but also helps lead to greater opportunities and experiences.
Dimemond truly believes that Vancity has just been knighted a great night, with such as Emotions, and that more individuals need a space and experience to truly share and present their art. Big ups to TeamEmo! The Open Mic experiences happens every last Sunday, of each month. Be sure to check out the next one on June 28th, at the Belmont on Granville Street, Vancouver.
What does Dimemond Mentality mean to you? Do you think it will be successful?
"Dimemond Mentality, to me, means finding the 'dime'mond in the rough. Finding little gems/diamonds out of a sea of people. 100% I believe this will be successful for the simple fact that it's highlighting Vancouver and bringing it all to to the forefront of the city and possibly the world."
What do you enjoy about Vancouver?
"I love 2 things! 1.) the fact that there's so many different types of people and 2.) if you don't like the weather, then wait 10 minutes and it's like playing Russian roulette ;)."
How has Vancouver motivated you to become more involved in the nightlife culture?
"The fact that I just barely caught the ass end of a good era in nightlife entertainment. Once I hit the ripe age of 23 the music started to get worse (in my opinion) and that's something I can't handle. So I surrounded myself with like minded friends and got involved with a group by the name of 'The Dynasty Boys'. We've been around for the past 6 years throwing parties and events such as 'Midnight Hush; and most recently 'Emotions' (which happens to last Sunday of every month at the Belmont)."
What are important changes do you want to see happen in the nightlife culture within Vancouver? What does it do well? What does it lack?
An important change I would like to see in the nightlife is that there are more options for different nights. What they do 'best/good' is giving the better DJ's in one venue. It lacks giving people the opportunity to venture to other clubs that play the same genre."
Do you have any aspiring role models you look up to? Why?
"Mark Rasta of Spotlight Productions. He's someone I look up to (just met him recently), because he is the type of person that brings big names to the city. I'm gonna be like him."
If you could potentially choose any career (if you were given the opportunity handed to you), what would it be?
"Motivational Speaker. I love making people feel great about what their doing and helping them see where they need to go!"
