NAME: Hasnain "Husky" Raza
AGE: 24
BACKGROUND: Born in Pakistan, moved to Zambia at age 5, and came to Vancouver as an international student at 18.
EDUCATION + OCCUPATION: Working in the digital marketing industry. Graduated in Marketing and Communications from Simon Fraser Unversity in June 2014.
Husky was approached with high interest from the Dimemond team, to be featured as an individual on the platform for many reasons. He has the greatest potential, if not already, to be a movement maker of this generation. By definition on the Dimemond Mentality mindset, a movement maker is simply an individual who has the capabilities to inspire people among people, to not only think and act upon making smarter decisions in this generation of new media and online business marketing strategies, but he has the capability to become a leader of the new media not only in execution, but opening new pathways to reach greater opportunities in the online social world. His ambition to never stop learning and educating himself, and to be very outspoken about what is missing from the online world currently, only shows that he will be the future of creation, new strategies and being an inspiration in a society that is slowly being fully controlled by online social media and marketing. It is rare to find Husky say that he is not going to be figure head in a world full of technology, and online opportunity.
What does Dimemond Mentality mean to you? Do you think it'll be successful?
"Dimemond mentality is a platform that showcases the best of the best. It shows appreciation to people that go above and beyond in whatever field they're in. It's a wonderful opportunity for people like me to reach a wider audience and explain to them what it is that I do and why I love it so much. Given the people behind Dimemond Mentality and the product they deliver, there's no reason for it not to be successful. As long as they continue to deliver the product they currently are, it will be in very exciting places in the next 5-10 years."
What do you enjoy about Vancouver?
"The fact that you get the best of both worlds and it is so beautiful. Seriously stunning. There's a place you can go for everything. Growing up in a very small town in Zambia, it would have been extremely difficult moving to a big city like New York or Toronto. Vancouver, I feel, is the perfect size. Not overly crowded and stressful and not way too small that you get bored every weekend. And mountains and the ocean? You won't find that anywhere else."
How has Vancouver motivated you to become a potential entrepreneur or a leader?
"Vancouver has nurtured and allowed me to grow in so many ways. Being with the right people and always being open to learn from everyone around gives you the motivation and energy to keep growing. It's a wonderful ecosystem that I want to absorb off of every minute I can."
What do you think is a difference between movement makers (entrepreneurs) in the baby boomer era, compared to our generation?
"It's the fact that the digital age has allowed a splurge of ideas that could not have been thought of before. It gives a lot of incentive for entrepreneurs to think outside the box and build a product that solves a problem that so desperately needed solving. Just like how the invention of the light bulb or electricity changed society and the world we live in, I believe code will follow suit."
Do you have any aspiring role models you enjoy reading about?
"I love reading about Peter Thiel, Elon Musk, Bill Gates and the Google Founders."
If you could potentially choose a career (outside of your academia), what would it be?
"Definitely professional soccer player. If I was good enough! And I'd stay loyal to my beloved Manchester United and play for them. Nobody else."
