The Fade Phenom competition headed back to Vancouver for a second appearance just this past February in Vancouver, and was just as intense as the first time it was held here.
Fade Phenom is a barber based competition, which invites all local barbers to come as a collective, culture and community, to challenge and compete against one another in various categories and specialties.
Some categories which barbers can compete in are: best fade, artistic freestyle, and as well as men's classic cut.
This event has been hosted by a collaboration between Vancouver's Barbering Collective and Julius Cvesar. Since the first Fade Phenom which happened in August 2015, Julius Cvesar decided to roll through Vancouver again, but made a barber tour out of it, For The Love Canadian Tour, while also bringing along Winnipeg's well known barber, Scott Ramos aka Famos. The tour not only consisted of a friendly competition within the barber culture(s) they visited throughout their tour, but they also added and created a one day seminar, where both Cvesar and Famos provide a class encompassed with various barbering tips, techniques and guidance. Despite Julius Cvesar and Famos being from different ends of the North American spectrum, they both withhold a massive, globally known resume. Individuals like Cvesar and Famos need to co-exist more, as they can definitely change and inspire the creative minds such as barbers, as oppose to creating a barber culture that is always competing against one another. Shout out to Julius Cvesar and Scott Ramos for stepping up and creating a barber movement, where collectively all barbers can learn from one another!
